Christiana Raymond-Pope, PhD, researcher in the Skeletal Muscle Plasticity and Regeneration Laboratory (SMPRL), led by Sarah Greising, PhD, assistant professor in the School of Kinesiology, attended and presented research at the Experimental Biology meeting, held in Philadelphia PA, April 2-5.

Sarah Greising, PhD, assistant professor in the School of Kinesiology and director of the Skeletal Muscle Plasticity and Regeneration Laboratory, along with Jarrod Call, PhD, associate professor in the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Georgia, received a 5-year $2.3 million dollar, multi-PI R01 grant from the  National Institutes of Health that will run from 2022 to 2027.

School of Kinesiology assistant professor Sarah Greising, PhD, director of the Skeletal Muscle Plasticity and Regeneration Laboratory (SMPRL), is an invited presenter for a September 1, 2020, Virginia Commonwealth University Department of Biomedical Engineering seminar entitled "Targeting Innervation during Skeletal Muscle Regeneration."

Sarah Greising, PhD, assistant professor in the School of Kinesiology and director of the Skeletal Muscle Plasticity and Regeneration Laboratory (SMPRL), and Jarrod Call, PhD, associate professor in the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Georgia, recently published "The Bread Baker and the Sandwich Shop: 'Partnering Small Businesses' for Success" in the Journal of Applied Physiology.

Alec Basten, MS student in exercise science and a research assistant in the Skeletal Muscle Plasticity and Regeneration Laboratory (SMPRL) directed by School of Kinesiology assistant professor Sarah Greising, PhD, wrapped up the track and field season with a great showing in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase at the NCAA Finals and the Olympic Trials.

Kyle Dalske, MS, recent graduate of the School of Kinesiology, and Christiana Raymond-Pope, PhD, post-doctoral associate, recently co-first-authored a PLOS ONE article, “Independent of physical activity, volumetric muscle loss injury in a murine model impairs whole-body metabolism.”

Jacob Sorensen, PhD, a School of Kinesiology postdoctoral fellow, published an article “Secondary Denervation is a Chronic Pathophysiologic Sequela of Volumetric Muscle Loss” in the Journal of Applied Physiology.

Christiana Raymond-Pope, PhD, Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Skeletal Muscle Plasticity and Regeneration Laboratory and graduate of the School of Kinesiology, is the lead author of an article recently published in the International Journal of Sports Medicine. Co-authors were Don Dengel, PhD, and Tyler Bosch, PhD, also affiliated with the School of Kinesiology.

School of Kinesiology postdoctoral fellow, Jacob Sorensen, PhD, and assistant professor, Sarah Greising, PhD, recently contributed to a manuscript published in Nature Biomedical Engineering. The work “Humanized skeletal muscle in MYF5/MYOD/MYF6-null pig embryos” is part of a collaborative project with Dr. Mary Garry and her research team.
